PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated four-time All-Star Madison Bumgarner for assignment following his latest shaky start. The move takes Bumgarner off the team’s 40-man roster and leaves Arizona seven days to trade the 2014 World Series MVP or else place him on outright waivers. The Diamondbacks announced the move Thursday, a day after Bumgarner allowed seven runs in three innings against the St. Louis Cardinals. The big left-hander hasn’t lived up to expectations in the desert since signing a five-year, $85 million deal in 2020. A postseason hero for San Francisco, he has gone 15-32 with a 5.23 ERA in 69 starts and is having his worst season with Arizona. The 33-year-old has allowed at least five runs in three of his four starts and dropped to 1-3 with a 10.26 ERA after his latest blowup in St. Louis.“I wish I had some kind of answers,” Bumgarner said after Wednesday’s game. “Not that I’m not going look for them — I’m going to look for them. Now, on the 75th anniversary, they are remembering the lessons of a painful past.Several people from the Greater Jewish Federation were in Israel, Thursday night. For them, there are two sides of a very inescapable coin: the progress the nation has made and the dark history the Jewish people had to endure. A young nation that was founded in the 20th century, Israel is now 75 years old. “It’s almost intrinsic in our blood to come here, and to be here, to be present,” said Barbara Black Goldfarb, of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. It’s a mission for the more than 800 visitors with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation in Jerusalem this week, but even in the joy of the anniversary, the Jewish people are rarely a loved one away.A great-grandfather, a mother, a father, from the systematic murder of millions of their people a little more than...Gay pride parade canceled after anti-drag show law passes

Boston Marathon organizers are apologizing for an incident involving spectators along the route of this yearâs race where members of two racially diverse running clubs said police were called to curb their enthusiasm because of the color of their skin. The incident happened in Newton. Officials from the Boston Athletic Association have since issued a statement addressing the topic, saying they were wrong to call police.âIt seems like youâre using some kind of implicit bias to single us out and say that âWell this group must be doing something wrong, look at them.ââ said Mike Remy, a member of the PIONEERS Runners Club. Remy said group members were enthusiastic during the race and went onto Commonwealth Avenue near Heartbreak Hill to support runners they knew.
