Two people died and four people were injured overnight in three Denver shootings.All three incidents were reported within a couple of hours of each other early Saturday morning.The first one happened in the 4800 block of West Colfax Avenue, Denver police reported about 1:55 a.m. on X.Police later reported two men died in this shooting and two other men were injured but expected to survive. Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.Police reported the second shooting about 20 minutes later near 17th and California streets. Transit agencies across the Bay Area will be running extended — and mostly free — services on New Year’s Eve for celebrants looking to hop on a train home after the ball drops at midnight, transit officials said Saturday.Starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Caltrain rides will be free. Powerful waves once again thrashed the Northern California coastline Saturday, but to a much lesser extent than seen earlier in the week with high surf and coastal flood warnings getting downgraded by weather officials in the early afternoon.Santa Cruz County beaches were forecasted to see the biggest waves — potentially as high as 40 feet at some spots — though the swell was not expected to be as intense as the storm surge that slammed the area earlier this week, damaging some oceanfront businesses.High swells that were expected overnight didn’t end up materializing in the seaside village of Capitola, which was hit hard on Thursday, according to Capitola Public Works Director Jessica Kahn. (KRON) – Six people were arrested as a result of the Fairfield Police Department's two-day theft operation. On Dec. 22, officers say they witnessed two men leaving a store with a shopping cart full of unpaid items. A new 85-acre park will be opening outside Leesburg, Virginia, after the land was donated Wednesday to the Nova Parks system.Now deemed Cattail Regional Park, the land changed hands from Henry Harris and the Harris family to the park system.In addition to forests, fields, wetlands and upland bogs — the acreage also holds historic significance.During the Civil War, fortifications were created along the road at the farm.
